Malay culture represents a cultural identity that holds significant historical and philosophical value within Indonesian society, particularly in the Sumatra region and its surroundings. However, the wave of globalization and the strong penetration of Western culture have led to a shift in societal values and behaviors, especially among the younger generation, thereby marginalizing the existence of Malay culture. This study aims to analyze the current state of Malay culture amid the challenges of modernity and to identify sustainable strategies for its revitalization and preservation. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, combining literature review with limited interviews involving traditional leaders, scholars, and cultural observers in Malay-inhabited regions. The findings reveal a decline in the daily practice of Malay culture, including the use of the Malay language, traditional customs, and social values. Nonetheless, there are opportunities for cultural preservation through the integration of local values into the education system, the use of social media, cultural festivals, and the empowerment of traditional communities. Collective awareness and cross-sectoral support are identified as key elements in the revitalization process. The study recommends the development of concrete and participatory cultural policies to ensure the continuity of Malay cultural identity in the rapidly changing global era.
